| Hi there! First off,
Welcome to the Workshop! I hope you find some useful
information here. I've made music my life, and it is, as
it has always been, my goal to expand the musical
knowledge of those around me. Yes, sometimes the process
is painstakingly slow. Sure, sometimes the volume of
knowledge hinders. But I try nonetheless. I've been doing
a good deal of thinking, reflection, and brainstorming
over the past few months, and I'm getting a grasp on how
it feels to be on the learning end. I spent five years in
college studying Music Engineering. That deals mostly
with studios, studio work, acoustics, equipment, and the
like. On the other hand, I was required to study both
piano and voice lessons, as well as numerous other
classes - woodwinds(I still can't seem to play the oboe
or bassoon), brass(pucker up for me!), strings(I love my
viola - it's my baby), guitar(I seem to have a
coordination problem), percussion, composition(I've
written a few pieces and had a couple of commissioned
works), arrangement(both vocal and non-vocal),
orchestration/instrumentation, songwriting(really quite
different from composition), and performance(did band,
choir, and orchestra), just to name a few - not to
mention having time to actually take other classes...and
teach music my last three years in school. Hey, you can

In studying, I've been thinking about the BASICS - the simple points that are the foundation of music study(in this case, the voice) that we often overlook. And as I had a fabulous voice teacher in college myself, I am dedicating myself daily to the practice of those things that make a great voice, in addition to daily dedication to convey the best musical knowledge to my students and those of you out there who are eager to learn. Talk about passion, I have become quite passionate lately about teaching others the "tricks of the trade." This site will be under
construction indefinitely, as I'll try to post a new
lesson each week till it is finished (maybe I'll compile
it into a book one day) and then I'll move to a new
topic.
